Hi folks,

pardon the mass e-mail…

You can read about NGS 2012 and some of the evaluation stuff here:

http://ivory.idyll.org/blog/ngs-2012-course.html

I've decided to reapply for the NIH R25 that funded NGS 2012 (and will fund NGS 2013). Assuming full funding, the course would be supported for 2014-2016.

According to my program manager, one thing that would significantly help is a small selection of letters from people who have taken the course, explaining how and why the course helped them; as well as letters from their professors, stating that they feel the course is good, helps students, etc. etc. Details and specificity would be important ("I went to this course and when I came back I could analyze my RNAseq data set from cancer." That kind of thing.)

You can send me a negative letter, too, but I won't put it in the grant :).

So, I'm e-mailing you all to ask if any of the students from US or Canadian labs would be willing to help out, either by writing such a letter themselves OR bugging their PI to write such a letter. Please contact me privately (off-list) if you are willing. Note that the deadline is next Tuesday so I'd want to have the letters in hand by mid-afternoon on Sep 24th.

thanks,
