[twill] https from behind a proxy

I'm having a heckuva time getting https connections working from behind
a proxy. I've tried setting http_proxy and https_proxy (does that even
exist?) environment variables to no effect. Setting http_proxy works
just fine for standard http requests, however. If I run firefox and set
the fixed proxy (10.1.51.10:80 for example) as my proxy for all
protocols it gets https and http connections just fine. I'm afraid I
don't know the rules about how https proxying works so I'm at a loss.
Any clues or things I should try to get this working?

    thanx,

        Ben Scherrey

PS: I though your & Greg's presentation @ PyCon was the highlight of the
event. Trying to incorporate your ideas into our org now.
