I'm putting a proof of concept together here:
https://github.com/rbtcollins/testtools/tree/streamresult

I'm doing it in testtools because that already has a muxer and support
for attachments, so I can easily toss workloads for things like
testrepository at it. If it turns out well, I'll port it to be a
standard library patch.
