[TIP] testing: why bother?

Sometimes I wonder if it is really worth trying to convince people to
merely "write tests", rather than going a little further and trying to
convince them to embrace TDD.

My experience has been that automated developer tests without TDD are
less useful, less fun to write and quite time consuming to maintain.

I don't know. Still an idea I'm toying with.
