It's not a "red and green bar" that I think you're asking toward, but I have a writeup on setting up hudson on my blog from a while back that includes a nice visual representation of how many unit tests passed and failed.

There's been some updates to things since I wrote it - including Tox and others to make it easier, but it includes a fundamental setup that should get you started if you want to experiment.
