[TIP] does licensing of test tools matter?

It depends. As some have mentioned, one oft does not redistribute tests.
Some of us in industry have, well, delusions, that our tests might  
someday escape from the corporate IP greed clutches to be released  
into standards groups. Standards groups are notoriously tricky,  
everyone trying to cooperate and yet manuever for advantage. As such,  
I'm not sure if (L)GPL would help (no one can benefit without me  
benefiting) or MIT/BSD. But that's a purely hypothetical situation and  
I'm probably the only one on this list thinking about it.

I've lost track of the 'elsewhere', so maybe it would help if you  
(re)articulated your goals?
