    Hi Gerald,<br>
    <br>
    I subscribe to the SoCal Piggies mailing list and noticed your
    inquiry to see if the Python group was interested in running a
    booth.<br>
    <br>
    If Piggies declines or if any other space is available, might there
    be any interest in allowing the Bitcoin.org open source project to
    run a booth?<br>
    <br>
    If you aren't familiar with Bitcoin, it just got some fantastic
    coverage on Steve Gibson's Security Now newscast on TWIT:<br>
    &nbsp; <a href="http://twit.tv/sn287">http://twit.tv/sn287</a><br>
    <br>
    Additionally, the project has been getting a lot of attention:<br>
    <br>
    &nbsp; SlashDot / Reddit / Digg / Hacker News posts, including:<br>
    &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <a href="http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2200705">http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2200705</a><br>

    <br>
    The project is particularly interesting for Linux enthusiasts due to
    the ability to "mine" for bitcoins, potentially earning hundreds of
    dollars a month simply by letting a computer's GPU crunch away:<br>
    &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Mining Bitcoin<br>
    &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Fedora 14: <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://bit.ly/fb54ye">http://bit.ly/fb54ye</a><br>
    &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ubuntu: <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://bit.ly/ewVzhu">http://bit.ly/ewVzhu</a><br>
    That's what I envision as something to demonstrate and something
    that is likely interesting to those visiting our booth -- i.e., a
    Linux-based GPU mining machine hashing away, earning bitcoins.<br>
    <br>
    The BItcoin project is novel.&nbsp; At this time last year if Bitcoin
    were in a booth at Scale, nearly everyone who knew anything about
    Bitcoin would have physically fit all together inside that one
    booth.&nbsp; Today, those involved in Bitcoin number in the thousands
    (globally):<br>
    &nbsp; <a
href="http://maps.google.com/maps?q=https://smsz.net/btcStats/bitcoin.kml">http://maps.google.com/maps?q=https://smsz.net/btcStats/bitcoin.kml</a><br>
    <br>
    I've been interested in learning and promoting Bitcoin. My
    contributions include:<br>
    &nbsp; <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.bitcoinmoney.com">http://www.bitcoinmoney.com</a> (including my introduction to Bitcoin
    podcast: <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://bit.ly/rebootingmoney">http://bit.ly/rebootingmoney</a> )<br>
    &nbsp; <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.bitconminer.com">http://www.bitconminer.com</a> <br>
    &nbsp;and other bitcoin-related projects: <br>

    I am in the process of forming a Los Angeles Bitcoin / Digital
    Currency meetup group:<br>

href="http://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Digital-Currency-Innovators-Group/">http://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Digital-Currency-Innovators-Group</a><br>
    <br>
    Additionally, there are several other Bitcoin enthusiasts in the
    area whom I will recruit for this.&nbsp; One such indivdual, for example,
    is Marc Brevand of El Segundo, creator of White Pixel, the world's
    fastest brute-force hashing box:<br>
    &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; <a href="http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=42">http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=42</a><br>
    <br>
    I've attended several previous Scale expos and use a Linux
    environment nearly exclusively.<br>
    <br>
    Hopefully I have described adequately how Bitcoin would be a
    sensational linux-based open source project to feature at Scale9x
    and have provided enough background to assure you that Bitcoin.org's
    first boot at Scale will be a resounding success.<br>
    <br>
    If you agree or would like to discuss anything further, please let
    me know.&nbsp; I look forward to hearing from you.<br>
