Subject: Meetup Message from Szilard Pafka: Python and data analysis

Szilard Pafka sent you this message from SoCal Piggies - Python
Interest Group on Meetup:

"Hi Alex and Grig:

This is Szilard, organizer of the R/data analysis meetup in LA.
Although this is primarily a user group of R, an open source
data analysis environment, many of us use also Python (+libs
such as Numpy etc) for some data analysis tasks or just to glue
things together.

I'd like to raise your attention to our next meetup on text
mining:
http://www.meetup.com/LAarea-R-usergroup/calendar/14674540/
which will also have a short talk on "Accessing R from Python
using RPy2: [...] how to use Python and the NLTK (Natural
Language Toolkit) library and how easy it is to seamlessly pass
data to R without ever leaving Python." Please come if you are
interested (you need to RSVP).

Also, if there are people in your group interested in data
analysis, we might want to organize a common meetup on "R and
Python for data analysis". To see what we do, you can also see
the video recordings of some of our previous meetings:
http://www.r-bloggers.com/RUG/category/rug-los-angeles/ By the
way, in New York for example there has been already some
collaboration between the Python and R meetups.

Also, please feel free to forward this email to your mailing
list, so that other people interested in data analysis with
Python or other tools could hear about us. Please contact me
for further discussions.

Best regards,
Szilard
