Senior Python Software Engineer at Startup

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be an integral member of the
small team that designs and implements our highly scalable Web
services and the development of a high transaction ad-serving product
that will have both web and Mobile interfaces. Your track record and
commitment to clean, documented, extensible code, your experience in
SOA, and your dedication to test-driven development will make you feel
at home in this fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You're building the backbone for all our products, connecting the Ux
services with hybrid data storage solutions. You'll need proven
experience contributing to selection of tools, establishing standards
and practices, working with and establishing requirements, documenting
as you go, and collaborating with distributed teams. Development of
highly scaled and high-availability services, extensive experience
with test-driven development in Python, and familiarity with modern
RPC methods, queueing protocols, and NoSQL storage solutions are also
required. Experience with Agile development practices, Java, scalable
information retrieval technologies, and the advertising industry are
significant advantages.

geographically distributed and you will work from your own (home)
office. To survive you'll need to excel at remote collaboration,
unfailingly express yourself in voice, chat, and asynchronous text
communications, and exceed all expectations of productivity while
doing so.

Requirements

Stong OO chops:  3 years or more Python or Java development experience
as well as OO design
Experience with Pylons and/or Django
Experience building a large-scaled, high traffic SOA
Ability to meet strict release guidelines
Experience in an agile development environment, including agile
tracking tools like Greenhopper/Jira
Previous experience with RESTful API structures
Passion for rapid development and release


Nice-to-Haves

Experience with external API management
Experience with Data Analytics, ETL best practices and tools
Experience with the Lucene/Solr family of technologies
Experience with memcached
Experience with Cassandra or other NoSQL platforms
Experience with the Hadoop family of technologies


Notes:
This company is building out a virtual work from home software
engineering organization. Basically candidates can work anywhere from
home in the US.
Candidates will be expected to want to embrace this culture, and also
have an interest and/or preferred track record of working for start
ups.
Candidates should be hands on and will need excellent communication
skills. They will be using collaborative software to help make there
work successful – such as Skype, IM, Yammer, Tungle etc.
Company has 20 employees currently, $8m in the bank, they have just
completed round 1 of 4 funding initiatives and they have a very
important deadline that they have to meet in January in 2010. Hence
there need to hire and scale.
Candidates must have experience working either for software dev
companies or .COMs.
