I run a recruiting firm that places Software Engineers in San Diego and
Orange County. I have a client with a very urgent need that may be
relevant for you or someone you know. 

Below is a job description for a position with a Boutique financial
trading firm located in Encinitas California. A bunch of Wall Street
Expatriates founded this company and they are making $$$ hand over fist
trading securities, commodities, currencies and providing financial
advisory services. Despite how the job description reads, the VP of Tech
has assured me that the most important skillset he is looking for is
Python. You will be building backoff trading applications in Python that
do order processing, settlement, position analysis, and reporting
functions. He has also assured me that financial experience is NOT a
requirement. The ideal candidate will have in depth knowledge of various
Python libraries and tools for developing complex Python based software.

Proper candidates are those able to self-manage and self-motivate,
communicate and collaborate effectively with others, and develop a sense
of ownership about their areas of responsibility. 

Position requirements: 
- Strong C++, Python, Unix shell scripting, SQL 
- Experience with using/developing on Linux and Windows 
- Network programming 
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
- Ability to provide production systems support 24/7 

Desirable: 
- VB, Web development 
- Knowledge of financial markets
