While sharing of data such as DNA<br>sequences, gene expression data (microarrays and RNA sequencing) has<br>been required (with available public databases) for a while, it has<br>been only recently that databases have become available, coinciding<br>with both funding agencies (such as the NSF) requiring data sharing<br>and management plans and many leading journals in ecology and<br>evolution also requiring this data. I will discuss why it is so<br>important to share raw data (after publication) in public databases,<br>in the sciences in general and ecology and evolutionary biology in<br>particular.
