workaround for bug in Qt3.0.1 under Darwin/MacOSX;
bug wouldn't allow static initialization of color 'black'.

Also -- under Darwin/OSX, because upper/lowercase letters aren't
distinguished in filenames, file source/MAP clobbers header "map" from
the standard template library.  Renamed source/MAP to
source/MAP.renamed_to_avoid_naming_conflict_with_stl for now.
