Scope and Aims:
Grammatical Evolution (GE) is a grammar-based Evolutionary Algorithm 
that employs a mapping function to map binary strings into higher-level 
structures such as programs. Its simplicity and modular nature make it 
very flexible and, since its introduction almost twenty years ago, 
researchers have applied it to an enormous range of problem domains, 
including financial modelling, parallel programming and genetics.

Similarly, much work has been conducted on ways in which to exploit and 
understand the nature of its mapping scheme, and research on everything 
from different grammars to alternative mappers to initialisation has 
been conducted.

The launch of this book will be timed with the twentieth anniversary of 
the first GE paper; it will capture the current state of the art and 
describe some of the most exciting applications currently being tackled 
with GE. We invite chapters for both an analysis and an application 
section. Analysis chapters can perform analysis on existing GE 
techniques or suggest alternative approaches to some of the key GE 
modules, such as mapping and representation. Application chapters should 
use some form of GE to tackle significant, real-world problems, and 
reflect on how the use of grammars was useful in their domain.

Potential authors are invited to submit an extended abstract (3 pages or 
less) for either the analysis or application sections.

This book will serve as a timely and excellent description of the 
current state-of-the-art of GE, with the analysis chapters providing in 
depth scrutiny of, and alternatives to, key GE modules. The application 
chapters will provide real-world deployments of GE and its continued 
relevance in the field. This will provide all the details necessary for 
the successful application of GE to real-world problems.
