**** Call for Workshops ****

ECAL 2017 - 14th EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON ARTIFICIAL LIFE
Lyon, France. 4-8 September 2017.

https://project.inria.fr/ecal2017/

The ECAL 2017 Organizing Committee invites proposals for workshops, to be
hosted on the first day of the conference, before the start of the main
program. Workshops are intended to be forums to present and discuss new
approaches, to meet people with similar interests, to be exposed to
cutting-edge research and to exchange ideas in an informal setting. The
ECAL 2017 conference registration fee includes participation in all
associated workshops. All community members are invited to submit
proposals concerning any relevant topics. The workshop may have been held
previously at a different venue, or it may be an entirely new event. The
workshops are typically half day long. The format can be decided by the
organizers who are encouraged to plan interactive sessions. The proposal
process is described in detail below.

Deadlines

Workshop proposal due date: February 15, 2016.
Notification of acceptance: March 8, 2016.
Full workshop program: July 18, 2016.

A Workshop Proposal should include

- Workshop title
- A brief (300-500 word) description of the workshop, identifying the
technical focus, timeliness, relevance to the artificial life community,
and target audience.
- An indication of whether this is a new workshop or one that has been
held previously or is derived from a prior workshop. In the latter case,
please include a brief history (venues, number of submissions,
acceptances, attendance, etc.) in prior years.
- A tentative description of the format for the workshop, including
number, length and type of sessions.
- A description of the planned review process and timetable, submission
deadline, notification date, and camera-ready due date.
- Names and contact information for all the workshop organizers, including
postal addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and web sites. Please
identify one member as the primary contact.
- A short bio (300 words) for each of the organisers.

Review Process:

All proposals for ECAL 2017 workshops and tutorials should be submitted as
single PDF files, by email with a subject line that includes
[ECAL2017-workshop] to ecal2017-workshops at inria.fr. The proposals will be
reviewed by members of the ECAL 2017 organizing committee. Factors to be
considered include relevance to the conference, anticipated interest from
the community, and expertise and credentials of the proposers.

The organizers of an accepted workshop are responsible for its
coordination and its publicity (e.g., for sending out call for
papers/abstracts), for collecting and reviewing the papers/abstracts, and
for maintaining a webpage providing a list of accepted talks. These will be
linked into the ECAL 2017 conference web site. Each accepted workshop can
request one free registration to ECAL 2017 for a workshop keynote speaker
(not an organiser) where appropriate. If and how the workshop outcomes are
disseminated is up to the workshop organizers: they could post accepted
papers on the Internet, work with a publishing company, or find a
different method.
