Position:  Post-doctoral research fellow

Scientific Area:  Computer Science and Engineering

Requirements for admission:  PhD in Computer Science and Engineering or related area.  Applicants must have a specialisation in Artificial Intelligence or in Complex Systems and must be fluent in English.  Preference will be given to experience in robotics, machine learning and bio-inspired computing.  Experience in visualisation will also be valuated.

Primary responsibilities: The post-doc fellow will conduct research and development assigned to LabMAg, University of Lisbon, in the frame of ASSISI|bf European project that researches bio-hybrid collective adaptive systems. The local team coordinator is Luís Correia (http://www.di.fc.ul.pt/~lcorreia/).  The work of the postdoc fellow will focus on models of self-organisation in autonomous agents inspired by swarm behaviour, namely with decentralised, asynchronous interaction.  Besides specification of behaviour and investigation of swarm intelligence in defined problems the grant holder will also investigate self-adaptation and evolutionary mechanisms adequate for collective behaviour.
