The 6th International Conference on Soft Computing and Intelligent Systems
The 13th International Symposium on Advanced Intelligent Systems

Organized Session: Artificial Life

Nov. 20-24th 2012, Kobe, Japan

Overview:
Artificial Life (ALife) is an interdisciplinary field of research that
aims to understand and apply emergent dynamics of biological systems by
synthesizing life-like behaviors using artificial media such as
computers, robots, molecules, and so on.
Especially, ALife studies have contributed to reconsider essential
concepts in various biological, social, and artificial systems such as
emergence and evolution of individuality, development, cognition,
communication, language, cooperation, biological/social relationships,
and so on, which are not straightforward to discuss using reductionism
approaches.

The aim of this session is to review latest experimental, theoretical,
and computational studies around ALife fields from both scientific and
engineering perspectives, and to provide an interdisciplinary forum to
exchange novel ideas among researchers.

Topics:
Topics of interest include, but not limited to, the following areas
from both scientific and engineering perspectives:

Emergence and evolution of individuality, development, cognition,
	 communication, language, cooperation, social relationships
    Multi-agent systems
    Complex networks
    Evolutionary robotics
    Evolution of language
    Evolutionary computation
    Evolutionary art
    Cellular automata
    Artificial life

Presentation:
Oral presentation (on-site)

Submission:
Authors are invited to prepare full papers of four (4) to six (6) pages
(maybe extended up to eight (8) pages but subject to an additional fee)
in IEEE style including results, figures, and references.
All full papers should be submitted online.

All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings
 and archived in IEEE Xplore.
