ECAL 2011, European Conference on Artificial Life,
an international conference on the simulation and synthesis of living
systems

8-12 August 2011, Paris, France
www.ecal11.org

============================

The ECAL 2011 conference is pleased to give Artificial Life researchers the
opportunity to organize half-day satellite workshops on the first day,
Monday, August 8 (see http://www.ecal11.org/workshops )

Satellite workshops should be dedicated to the same general topics as the
main conference (see http://www.ecal11.org/themes ), while allowing for more
focused interactions among participants.

Up to 8-10 half-day workshops can be distributed into two 4-hour sessions,
one in the morning 9am-1pm and one in the afternoon 2:30pm-6:30pm, thus
making 4-5 workshops in parallel per half-day (see
http://www.ecal11.org/program ). In the case of an even greater number of
eligible proposals, a few satellite workhops might also have to be scheduled
in a late "spillover" session on Friday, August 12 afternoon
(1:30pm-5:30pm).

The internal organization of the satellite workshops (website, invitations,
speakers selection, proceedings, all deadlines except registration) is
entirely left up to their respective organizers. ECAL will only provide the
onsite logistics (seminar rooms, projectors, coffee breaks, and lunch boxes)
and Web links from the main conference website, but all other organizational
issues should be taken care of by the workshop chairs.

No extra financial help will be given either. However, ECAL will offer
attendees the possibility of a special reduced 1-day registration fee
(amount to be announced soon, see http://www.ecal11.org/registration ) for
anyone who wishes to come only to the satellite workshops on August 8
(possibly including the afternoon of August 12, if needed).

WORKSHOP PROPOSAL SUBMISSION
----------------------------

Download the ECAL 2011 „Workshop Proposal Submission form here:

http://www.ecal11.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/ECAL-2011-Workshop-Proposal.doc

To submit a workshop proposal, please send an attached PDF document to
contact at ecal11.org (by February 21, 2011) containing the following
information (please keep the same item numbers):

1. Title and ACRONYM of the workshop.

2. Names, affiliations, and contact details of the organizers. Please
indicate a primary contact person to whom correspondence should be directed
by default.

3. Short description: What would be the topic of the workshop? Let us also
know the format: peer-reviewed papers, poster sessions, invited talks, panel
discussions, competition, etc. -- or a mix of the above? Keep in mind that
if you include any kind of review process, then you will have to manage it
yourself. It will not be part of the general conference review process.
Workshop contributions (whether reviewed or invited, full papers or
abstracts) will not be included in the conference proceedings either.

4. History of this workshop and related events: Is this the first workshop
of its kind or is it part of a series? What are the most closely related
workshops or similar events that have taken place over the past few years?
What other closely related events are likely to take place this year and in
the near future, if any?

5. Experience of the organizers: Please briefly describe your qualification
to organize such a workshop (relevant scientific activity, other events you
have organized, etc.).

6. Draft of your potential "Call for Papers": Your custom CFP should include
a description of the scientific goals of the workshop, the target audience,
the topics covered, your deadlines, the reviewing process (if applicable),
and a tentative list of Program Committee members, if any (specifying who
has already given their consent to serve on your PC). A standard summary of
ECAL will also be appended to your CFP.

7. An accurate and reasonably short HTTP link to the (future) website of
your workshop.

8. Anything else that you feel is important.

You will be notified whether your proposal is accepted by February 28, 2011.
Accepted satellite workshops will then be listed in the ECAL website (as
external links), while the organizers of the workshops will be responsible
for hosting and maintaining their own website.

** Thank you for your interest in ECAL 2011!
