Special Issue: “Contemporary Development of  Neural Computation and Applications”
Journal: Neural Computing and Applications

The aim of this special issue is to solicit theoretical, computational, application-oriented, experimental and real-world research in the field of neural computing and to demonstrate the advances, successes, and improvements in the investigation and application of state-of-the-art neural computing methodologies.
The special issue will foster and encourage active participation of  researchers from a variety of communities from both the academia and the industry, bringing them under a common denominator - neural computing, which encompasses  nature and neurally-inspired methodologies in investigating,  modelling and simulating complex systems that enhance  learnability, adaptability and  autonomicity.  This will bring the opportunity to review latest advances, to galvanize interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration, and to explore future trends of the research in this field and related areas.
Topics related to neural computation to be covered in this special issue include but are not limited to:
●	Machine Learning;
●	Artificial neural networks;
●	Neural processing and Probabilistic inference;
●	Neuro-Fuzzy Systems;
●	Neural computing in pattern recognition and signal processing;
●	Nature inspired evolutionary approaches (genetic algorithms, swarm optimization, artificial immune systems, etc.);
●	Knowledge-based systems;
●	Data mining;
●	Bioinformatics; 
●	Complex Systems and Networks;
●	Process control and monitoring;
●	Smart systems;
●	Industrial and finance applications of neural computing.

Manuscript submission deadline: 	February 15, 2011
Notification of  Acceptance: 		30th March, 2011
Final Manuscript Due: 		20th April, 2011
Publication date: 			Third Quarter, 2011

Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process.
