Introduction

The 2010 International Workshop on Nature Inspired Computation and Applications is the fourth in this high-level international workshop series. The first was held in October 2004, the second in October 2006 and the third in May 2008. The primary goal of this workshop series is to provide a small and informal setting for researchers to engage in deep discussions on latest research issues in nature inspired computation and its applications. The workshop speakers always feature the very best researchers in the world. The 2010 workshop is no exception. Each of its invited speakers will give two talks, the first will be of tutorial nature, and the second will focus on the latest research in the related area.

Invited Speakers

* Uwe Aickelin, The University of Nottingham, UK
Tentative Topic: Artificial immune systems and intrusion detection

* Thomas Bartz-Beielstein, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Germany

Registration

The workshop is free of any registration fees. However, registration is required in order for the organizers to provide the participants with more detailed information about the workshop. The participants can choose either of the following options:
1. No fee to pay for attending the workshop. The participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and all catering arrangements. No workshop materials will be given.
2. The organizers can arrange lunches and dinners for the 5-days workshop, and a hardcopy of the materials of invited talks (including the slides and references). This will cost USD 100.

Travel Information

International participants can go to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hongkong and many other cities in China by many international airlines, and then transfer to a domestic flight to Hefei. There are flights between Hefei and many other cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xi'an, Xiamen and Hongkong.

Venue and Accommodation

The workshop will be held at the Grand Hotel Overseas Traders Club, a 5-star hotel in Hefei. All participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements. For participants, we recommend the Grand Hotel Overseas Traders Club (http://www.hfwshotel.com/en/hotel_introduction.html). The price for a single/double room is CNY 389 per night (approximate USD 60). There also are a few other hotels close to the workshop venue and a number of cheap hotels (about CNY 180 per night) near the west campus of USTC. It will take about 15 minutes by taxi to get to the workshop venue from the west campus of USTC.

About USTC

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a new type of university established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1958. The establishment of the University is aimed at fostering high-level personnel of science and technology absolutely necessary for the development of the national economy and education in science and technology. Since then, USTC has been continuously recognized as one of the top research universities in China, and is regarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China as one of the four universities with the best scientific research performance in China. USTC ranks among the best in the review of Chinese top universities by the US journal "Science" and the French journal "Research". It is consistently ranked in the world's best 200 universities by the Times Higher Education (UK) since the ranking started.
