Models of Motivation for Coordination in Robot Platoons

Computational models of motivation such as novelty, interest, curiosity
and creativity are emerging as an approach to developmental robotics.
Robots use a model of motivation to identify different problems to
solve, then apply machine learning approaches to learn how to solve
those problems. This thesis will extend existing work with motivated
agents to self-motivated coordination within societies of multiple
robots. 

 

The successful applicant will be awarded a UNSW at ADFA Research Training
Scholarship with an annual tax-free stipend of AUD$21,627 for three
years. Applicants would be expected to be available to commence their
studies in Session 1, 2010. Applicants with a first class honours degree
or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering are encouraged to
apply. A letter of application with the applicant's curriculum vitae,
certified copies of academic transcripts, one page project proposal and
