Post-doctoral researcher position available immediately
in agent-based computational modeling of social behavior

The Cognitive Science Program at Indiana University Bloomington and the
Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame invite
applications for an NSF-funded postdoctoral research position to model
female mate choice behavior and navigation strategies in amphibians.
Existing agent-based/individual-based computational models, in a
spatially-extended continuous 2-D environment, will be extended and
studied in simulations on high-performance computing clusters. Models
focus on the neuroendocrine control of social behaviors. The results
from the simulations will be analyzed statistically to develop
mathematical models of higher-level population dynamics.

We seek candidates with expertise in the following areas:

      * agent-based/individual-based computational modeling
      * statistical analyses
      * mathematical population models
      * computer programming and Unix-based systems
      * behavioral ecology, ethology, animal communication, or
        psychology

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team and
work closely with researchers at Indiana University-Bloomington and the
University of Notre Dame. The home institution will depend on the
candidate's research profile and preference. Regular research team
meetings will take place at both institutions. This is a 12-month
appointment (with medical insurance benefits), renewable annually for at
least two years and it may continue depending on funding availability
and job performance. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications
and experience.

Applicants should send a statement of research interests and curriculum
vitae (in PDF format), including the names of three professional
references, to both PIs by email only.
