INTRODUCTION: Evolutionary Computation (EC) has been a rapid developing
field of research with a wide range of techniques inspired by natural
phenomena such as natural selection, swarm, or immunity. To date, applying
techniques of evolutionary computation to real world problems has received
considerable attention from both researcher and practitioner and has
obtained significant success. This book aims at presenting the latest EC
applications as well as some important theoretical progress to a wide range
of audience.
THE OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE BOOK: A large volume of research work has been
done in EC applications. However, most of works on EC applications are
reported in various journals and conference proceedings which may focus on
very narrow topics. This book will bring together the most important
applications of EC techniques. It will consist of open-solicited and invited
papers written by leading researchers in the field. All papers will go
through a thorough peer review by at least two experts in the field and one
of the editors.
THE TARGET AUDIENCE: The book will be organised in such a way that it is
accessible to a wide range of audience. It is can be served as reference for
both researchers and practitioners. It can also be used as supplementary
teaching materials at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
TOPICS: This book focuses on significant EC applications, as well as
important theoretic progress. Recommended topics include the applications
of:
• genetic algorithms, genetic programming, evolution strategy, evolutionary
programming
• probabilistic models: estimation of distribution algorithms, probabilistic
search methods
• swam intelligence, ant colony optimisation
• artificial immune systems
• agent systems
There is no restriction on the field of applications, which may include, but
not limit to, data mining, control, scheduling, gaming, forecasting,
military and security applications, bioinformatics and robotics.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on
or before February 4, 2007, a 2-5 page manuscript proposal clearly
explaining the mission and concerns of the proposed chapter. Authors of
accepted proposals will be notified by February 15, 2007 about the status of
their proposals and sent chapter organizational guidelines. Full chapters
are expected to be submitted by April 30, 2007.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION: The book will be part of the Series of Studies in
Computational Intelligence by the Springer Verlag. For more information
