Special Session on
Complex Adaptive Systems
Knowledge-based & Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems (KES'2005)
14-16 September 2005, Melbourne, Australia
Call for Paper
Complex adaptive systems (CAS) are governed by a large number of nonlinearly
and dynamically interacting components that continuously adapt to their
environment. Interesting phenomena in CAS emerge from the local interaction
of the components. Understanding the fundamental concepts in play in CAS is
the focus of a large research effort over the last decade.
This special session on CAS seeks to bring together researchers from around
the globe for a creative discussion on recent advances and challenges facing
CAS research. The special session on Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS)
(http://www.itee.adfa.edu.au/~alar/cas05/) is organized within KES'2005
(http://www.kesinternational.org/kes2005/) by the Artificial Life and
Adaptive Robotics Laboratory (ALAR) http://www.itee.adfa.edu.au/~alar/ at
UNSW at ADFA.
We invite authors to submit their original and unpublished work that
demonstrates current research and novel applications in CAS. The special
session will focus on, but not limited to, the following themes:
a.. Adaptation and Adaptability
b.. Adaptive systems
c.. Applications
d.. Cognitive models
e.. Complex system engineering
f.. Complex system modelling
g.. Complex systems in organization
h.. Diversity
i.. Evolutionary Computation
j.. Emergence
k.. Game Theory
l.. Machine Learning models for complex systems
m.. Multi-agent Systems
n.. Network Theory
o.. Neural Networks and Connectionism
p.. Self-organization
q.. Social networks
r.. Visualization of complex systems
Paper Submission
All papers will be subject to a peer review process by at least two
reviewers. All papers must follow the same requirements for the paper format
of the conference that can be found at the website:
http://www.kesinternational.org/kes2005/. After the final decision is made,
authors will receive a notification letter accompanied with the reports of
the reviewers. All accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings
of KES'2005 and at least one of the authors must register and attend to
present his/her paper at KES'2005.
Please note that all papers for this special session must be submitted to
Ang Yang at ayang at itee.adfa.edu.au.
