ALEA'05 is the second international event in Portugal specifically
dedicated both to the theory and application of Artificial Life (ALife)
and Evolutionary Algorithms (EA).  ALife and EA solutions have been
gaining popularity in solving complex problems of different industrial,
economical, and scientific domains.

This workshop is a good opportunity to gather researchers to present
their latest research and to discuss current developments and
applications of ALife and EA.  The format of the meeting will be
designed to stimulate close interaction between members of these
scientific communities.  ALEA'05 has the purpose of thriving to develop
this research area in Portugal, through discussion among researchers and
outstanding international scientists.

General topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

 * Genetic Algorithms
 * Evolutionary Strategies
 * Evolutionary Programming
 * Genetic Programming
 * Classifier Systems
 * Evolutionary Robotics
 * Parallel Evolutionary Algorithms
 * Evolution Dynamics
 * Artificial Immune Systems
 * Ant Algorithms
 * Cultural Algorithms
 * (Particle) Swarm Algorithms
 * Systems with emergent properties

Important Dates

 May, 27: Draft papers due
 July, 15: Notification of acceptance
 July, 28 : Camera-Ready papers due
 December 5-8 : ALEA'05 Workshop

Each paper must not exceed 8 pages.  Poster submissions must not exceed
4 pages.  Best papers will be selected for publication in the main
volume of the conference proceedings which will be published by
Springer-Verlag in the LNAI series.
